WildZen Solutions Ltd. brings together expertise in all three areas because we believe true environmental stewardship connects these fields. Our landscaping services promote sustainable green spaces that thrive independently. Through consultancy, we help clients improve environmental practices to protect and enhance natural resources. And through training, we share our systems-thinking approach with those interested in sustainable land management, providing the skills and insights to manage green spaces effectively and holistically.
Systems-thinking is an approach that views an environment as an interconnected web of relationships rather than isolated parts. In environmental management, this means looking at soil, water, plants, animals, and human influence as one cohesive system. By understanding these connections, we can design strategies that address root causes rather than just symptoms, creating resilient ecosystems that thrive over time. For businesses and green spaces, systems-thinking offers the best way to manage complexity, reduce environmental impact, and encourage long-term sustainability.
Sustainability is central to WildZen’s mission, and that extends to our tools and equipment. While we prioritise low-impact methods and limit power tool use wherever possible, petrol machinery remains necessary in some cases due to cost, power requirements, and variable site conditions. Currently, battery-powered alternatives lack the same reliability and can be costly to maintain. However, we are committed to transitioning to greener technologies and regularly review our equipment to ensure we minimise environmental impact.
Whenever possible, we use natural soil amendments and fertilisers to encourage healthy growth without synthetic inputs. However, in certain situations, using a targeted, non-organic method can be the best choice to address specific environmental challenges. Like the balance between good nutrition and medicine in human health, our approach prioritises organic methods but remains flexible enough to use synthetics when absolutely necessary. We always consult clients before any non-organic intervention to ensure complete transparency.
Our methods are inspired by Permaculture principles, but WildZen Solutions applies a broader systems-thinking strategy. Permaculture is excellent for creating self-sustaining food gardens, and we share its ethos of low-impact, eco-friendly design. However, we also draw on other systems-thinking methods developed by environmental pioneers such as Allan Savory, Akira Miyawaki, and Masanobu Fukuoka. These approaches allow us to create diverse, resilient landscapes that align with broader environmental goals and support complex ecosystems.
Our focus is on native ecosystem creation, which means our primary services centre around soil health, plant diversity, and habitat creation. While we don’t currently offer large-scale hardscaping or fencing, we are developing partnerships with landscape architects to provide these services in the future. Small hardscaping elements, such as raised beds or gravel mulching, are available when they complement the natural design. We are always open to collaborating with garden designers and other specialists to achieve your project’s goals.
We prioritise native plants for their ecological benefits, resilience, and low maintenance, as they support local wildlife and integrate naturally with the landscape. However, we also value long-naturalised species that contribute positively to the environment. Our plant choices reflect both the needs of the local ecosystem and client preferences, though we adhere to regulatory guidelines on planting specific species.
Our low-impact approach means working with natural cycles to achieve the best results for both ecosystems and clients. For example, planting and pruning are most effective from late autumn to early spring, as they are less stressful on trees and shrubs during these times. By aligning our work with seasonal rhythms, we help establish healthy landscapes that are ready to flourish in the warmer months, ensuring green spaces are vibrant and enjoyable for our clients.
